Few names are as synonymous with improv as Matt Besser. A founding member of the Upright Citizens Brigade and a regular performer in the world-famous show Asssscat, Besser has brought his talents to podcasting with this fully improvised show that features the best talent in the universe. Bumbershoot’s live performance will feature Besser, UCB veteran and actor Brian Huskey, and Saturday Night Live’s Tim Meadows and Horatio Sanz.

Join IFC’s Scott Aukerman (co-creator of Between Two Ferns) and his musical cohort Reggie Watts for a screening of a brand new episode of Comedy Bang! Bang!. This original series is a hilarious variety show that riffs on the late night talk show format, infusing celebrity appearances and comedy sketches with a tinge of the surreal. New episodes of Comedy Bang! Bang! Fridays at 10/9C on IFC.
Patton Oswalt is an internationally renowned comedian, writer, and actor. In addition to starring in the films Big Fan and Young Adult Oswalt was the voice of Remy the rat in Ratatouille. Oswalt also appeared as the character Spencer Olchin in the sitcom King of Queens, has shot three TV specials and released several critically acclaimed albums. For this—his sixth year at Bumbershoot—Oswalt brings surprise special guests and a helping of sidesplitting laughter.
New York City-based comedian and actor Todd Barry is widely recognized for his roles as the bongo-playing “Third Conchord” on HBO’s Flight of the Conchords and Mickey Rourke’s deli boss in 2009 Oscar winner The Wrestler. Boasting multiple stand-up appearances on The Late Show with David Letterman, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, two Comedy Central Presents specials, and a one hour Comedy Central special Super Crazy, Todd’s resume also includes such hit TV shows as Louie, Delocated, Bored to Death, Tim and Eric, Chappelle’s Show, Sex and the City, and even Sesame Street. Among his additional feature film highlights are Todd Phillips’s Road Trip, Louis CK’s Pootie Tang, and Mitch Hedberg’s Los Enchiladas.
Former Seattleite Reggie Watts is an internationally renowned vocalist/beatboxer/musician/comedian/improviser who currently stars in IFC’s Comedy Bang! Bang!. He was handpicked by Conan O’Brien to open his sold-out North American “Prohibited From Being Funny on Television” tour, crowned “Hot Comedian” by Rolling Stone, and named SPIN’s “Best New Comedian” in 2010. He’s appeared multiple times on Conan, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, The Yes Men Save the World, IFC, Michael and Michael Have Issues, Iceland TV, UK’s “Funny Or Die,” and PBS’s Electric Company.
For over fifteen years, Marc Maron has been writing and performing raw, honest, and thought-provoking comedy for print, stage, radio and television. A legend in the stand-up community, he has appeared on HBO, in two Comedy Central Presents specials, and on almost every show that allows comics to perform. He has appeared on Conan O’Brien more than any other comedian (a record 47 times and counting). His podcast WTF with Marc Maron regularly hits #1 on the iTunes chart, and his comedy series Maron debuted this year on IFC.
Doug Benson is a veteran comedian as well as the creator and host of the Doug Loves Movies and Benson Interruption podcasts. He starred in the film Super High Me and has appeared on Comedy Central Presents, Best Week Ever, and the fifth season of Last Comic Standing. His latest album, Gateway Doug, was recorded on stoner holiday April 20 earlier this year.
As a stand-up comic, Kyle Dunnigan has had his own half-hour special on Comedy Central and made appearances on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. His weekly podcast, Professor Blastoff (co-hosted with friend and fellow comedian friend Tig Notaro) made Entertainment Weekly’s “Must List” and receives 40,000 downloads per episode. Dunnigan also appeared in the pilot Garfunkel and Oates for HBO GO and had a recurring role on Reno! 911.
Northwest native Morgan Murphy is a comedian, actress, and writer. She has performed in the Comedians of Comedy tour and appeared in the Comedians of Comedy: Live at the Troubadour DVD. Bobcat Goldthwaite cast her in the films Sleeping Dogs Lie and World’s Greatest Dad, and Aimee Mann has included her in all three years of her “Christmas Spectacular” tours as well as the video for her song “31 Today”. Murphy was a writer and performer on both Jimmy Kimmel Live! and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and is currently a writer on the CBS sitcom 2 Broke Girls.
Natasha Leggero is an actress, writer and accomplished standup who can be seen regularly on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and as part of the Chelsea Lately round table. In 2011, she did her first Comedy Central special and her album, Coke Money, was released that same year. She’s appeared on TV (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Community, Reno! 911, The Sarah Silverman Program), on the web (Arrested Development, Burning Love), and in movies (He’s Just Not That Into You, The Believer). Her voice can be heard in Ugly Americans, The Life and Times of Tim, and Aqua Teen Hunger Force.
On the comedy stage, Judah Friedlander is The World Champion. He is the best athlete in the world, greatest martial artist, the sexual desire of every woman, and a role model to children. Let’s face it, Judah is the greatest comedian in the world… and the most humble. Judah is an extra-dark blackbelt in karate.
Joe Mande is a comedian and writer. He’s currently a staff writer for Parks and Recreation and has also written for Kroll Show on Comedy Central and Delocated on Adult Swim. He has performed stand-up twice on Conan and his half-hour special premiered on Comedy Central last year.
Comedian and actor Matt Besser is a founding member of the Upright Citizens Brigade. A veteran of such TV shows as MTV’s Stung and Comedy Central’s Crossballs, he’s also appeared in films like Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, Year One, Drillbit Taylor, and Junebug. He can currently be found at the long-running weekly UCB improv show Asssscat.
Mike Drucker is an award-winning stand-up comedian and current staff writer for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. A veteran of the comedy festival circuit, he’s also contributed his writing skills to Saturday Night Live, The Onion, The Onion News Network on Comedy Central, McSweeney’s, Nintendo, College Humor, the Mark Twain Awards, the Independent Spirit Awards, and the ESPY Awards. In 2011, he won the Joke of the Year award from Time Out New York. On Twitter, Mike’s incredibly sad jokes have amassed him a fan base of over 49,000 followers.
Jerrod Carmichael is an LA-based stand-up performer originally from Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He was featured last year in Variety as one of their top ten “Comics to Watch” and was one of the New Faces at the Montreal Just For Laughs Festival. He was previously a recurring character on Fox’s The Goodwin Games and can be seen in the upcoming feature Townies. He’s a regular around some of LA’s favorite comedy clubs, including Meltdown, The Improv and Laugh Factory.
Comedian Mike Vecchione has appeared on Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham, Comedy Central’s Fresh Face Debates, and Russell Simmons Presents: Stand Up at the El Rey Theatre. In 2010, Vecchione won the People’s Choice Award for the New York Comedy Festival, was a semi-finalist on NBC’s Last Comic Standing, and was selected to perform at the prestigious Montreal Comedy Festival (New Faces). Later that year, Mike went on to perform on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and shot his own half hour special for Comedy Central.
Emily Heller is a comedian and writer who likes you very much. You may have seen her on Conan, on the third season of John Oliver’s New York Stand Up Show on Comedy Central, or as one of the New Faces at the 2012 Montreal Just For Laughs Festival. She is the creator and star of the Above Average series The Future. In 2011, She was included in Comedy Central’s Comics to Watch, won Rooftop Comedy’s Silver Nail Award, and was named one of the “Funniest People in Town” by 7×7 Magazine in San Francisco. Emily now lives in New York City and performs stand-up all over the country.

Conceived by Portland comedian and Oregon native Craig May, The Spicy News was born when a group of friends believed that it would be funny to watch comedians read celebrity gossip, but only after eating one of the hottest naturally occurring chillies on the planet. After soliciting the help of local hero and champion of industry, Ian Karmel, The Spicy News quickly began to carve out a following of comedy enthusiasts, and masochists alike. For Bumbershoot, The Spicy Crew has a ton planned already including a live Spicy News/Spicy Interview as well as “Hot Comedy” in which comics attempt to do their act under the influence of a habanero.
SketchFest Seattle is the world’s original sketch comedy festival, with a reputation for presenting the best and most original comedy from around the globe. This year’s Bumbershoot performers include Jen Seaman, a judge favorite on Season 6 of NBC’s America’s Got Talent; Charles (Seattle sketch comedy duo Charlie Stockman and Chuck Armstrong), known for cerebral humor bordering on comedic arrogance; Drop the Root Beer and Run, a sketch comedy troupe formed by alumni from the Evergreen State College’s comedy collective known as “Generation Friends”; and Princess.

Created by Seattle comedy producer Sean McCann, The Podaholics Comedy Stand is an hour-long stand-up comedy show showcasing Northwest talent. Bumbershoot performers include Duane Goad, Jay Hollingsworth, Kane Holloway, Kelsey Cook, Mike Coletta, Tyler Smith, and Phil Fox.
Based in The City of Destiny, the Tacoma Comedy Club regularly presents some of the best stand-up comedians from all over the country. Appearing at Bumbershoot are local favorites Aaron Kirby and Jonas Barnes, plus national touring headliner Brad Upton, a veteran of Comedy Central and Almost Live!
