The New York Times reviews NYC’s recent Bang on a Can 21st birthday blowout, and declares Dan Deacon performed at the ungodly hour of 4:15am—the highlight of the show.
Mr. Deacon’s geeky hedonism—all 15 minutes’ worth—was a high point of the 12-hour event, which Bang on a Can produced in collaboration with the mostly pop-oriented River to River Festival and arts>World Financial Center.

It’s a much darker album in tone, and elements of the story have been really weighing down on me. Not to say it isn’t a positive record, but it’s just more balanced in emotional range than Spiderman of the Rings.
