Greening Bumbershoot

Reduce

These days it’s important to take the first step towards sustainability by reducing our overall consumption habits. At Bumbershoot this means:

  • Looking at our use of power
  • Examining the Festival’s signage (banners, scrims, etc) and printed materials (program, brochures, etc) and limiting production where we can, examining the necessary sizes, and seeking more sustainable source materials
  • Seeking organic cotton merchandise options to reduce use of pesticides
  • Reducing waste with plenty of public recycle bins (and new compost stations!), recycling Festival materials, enforcing pre-consumer composting and a ban on the use of Styrofoam by Festival vendors
  • Encouraging use of non-disposable water bottles (with free water stations)
  • Encouraging alternative transportation
