Bumbershoot Gives Back 2009 by Shaun

The staff at Bumbershoot believe in social responsibility, and together we try to be an active, engaged member of the community in which we thrive. Year-round, we donate our time, expertise and tools to other non-profits, striving to make a measurable impact on the greater-Seattle area. In 2009 our team wanted to do more, so we launched Bumbershoot Gives Back. Annually, we will select a local non-profit organization that supports the arts, culture, education or environment, and spend a day working side-by-side with that group on a special project.

In the initial year of the program, the Bumbershoot staff rolled up their sleeves for a day-long work party at the King Street Cooperative Preschool. This parent-powered preschool needed back-up support revitalizing two buildings to be used for art projects and play space. By turning an old greenhouse into an art zone and finishing a storage shed, the King Street Co-op is reclaiming areas for the kids to spread out, get messy, and flex creative muscles—activities that Bumbershooters can definitely stand behind.

If your non-profit or charitable organization is in need of a helping hand, visit the Bumbershoot Gives Back program page to apply for our 2010 project. Our staff is happy to gets our hands dirty, pick up a drill or swing a hammer for a good cause!
