Artist Spotlight: EDM at EMP

This year Bumbershoot is excited to announce a new, all-ages electronic stage, in partnership with local promoters USC Events and Trinity Nightclub, at EMP Museum’s Sky Church. EDM at EMP programming will be featured on Saturday and Sunday evening beginning at 7pm. With a lineup that includes both regional and international artists, Bumbershoot is excited to be working with two groups that are on the forefront of Seattle’s burgeoning electronic movement.

Founded in 1996, USC Events has grown to be one of the premier promoters of EDM in the Northwest, booking both popular club events and nationally-recognized annual festivals. USC Events curated the Saturday, August 31 lineup, featuring Tyler Brown, Sean Majors, Hyperfunk, Dannic, and Cookie Monsta.

Trinity Nightclub, located in Pioneer Square, is a two-level, multi-room space home to cutting-edge club music. Trinity curated the Sunday, September 1 lineup, featuring DJ Phase, Rise Over Run, Supreme La Rock, DJ Girl 6, GUY, and DJ White Shadow.

With so many fantastic electronic artists at this year’s Festival for EDM at EMP, we’ve decided to highlight a couple to get you psyched for their sets!

Dannic: hailing from the Netherlands, this DJ/producer is one of the up-and-coming stars of the EDM world. Dannic recently opened the mainstage at the Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas, one of the biggest events in the electronic music scene:

Dannic found fans early on with his own mashups, and later went on to win the Dancetour DJ contest in 2009, which granted him a slot playing his productions to an audience of 10,000 people. Now with support from major artists such as Tïesto and Hardwell, Dannic brings the EDM beats of Europe to the Pacific Northwest.

DJ White Shadow, aka Paul Blair, is best known for his work as a producer for Lady Gaga. He has also become a staple of the Chicago nightlife scene and a popular DJ chosen by celebrities such as Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz, R. Kelly, and even President Obama. DJWS earned his first residency at a club in Japan, and upon returning to the states became a campus sensation at Western Michigan University, where he attended school. He made a name for himself after moving to Chicago, and has travelled all over the world supporting his music. White Shadow masterfully mixes several music genres, fueled by hip hop undertones, and possesses a true ability to connect with and engage a crowd, driving them into a frenzy.
