Bumbershoot proudly rolls out yet another lineup! This time, jam packed with jokes that are bound to have our three comedy venues full of of laughter, cries, squeals and undecipherable noises this Labor Day Weekend. Our comedy lineup joins the likes of music, theatre, arts, words & ideas, and spectacle performances, providing both diehard fans and newly intrigued patrons to experience yet another aspect of what our multifaceted Festival has to offer.
National talent alongside regional favorites should provide a little something for every sense of humor.
“I’m not sure, at this point, if I’ve ever really performed at Bumbershoot, or if it’s a recurring dream I keep having. Bumbershoot might not even exist,” says alum Patton Oswalt, who will be making his sixth appearance at our 43rd Fest. Oswalt, known for his role as Spencer Olchin in The King of Queens, and for voicing Remy on Disney/Pixar’s Ratatouille, has also graced HBO, Comedy Central, Parks and Recreation, and late night shows with Jay Leno and Conan O’Brien with his presence. A strong Bumbershoot supporter, Oswalt remarks, “Bumbershoot is a living, breathing, working comedian’s fantasy of what doing stand-up comedy should be.”
A natural performer on television, radio and stage, Watts will take part in a screening and Q&A of his popular IFC show Comedy Bang! Bang!. He’s also a local hero at heart, as Watts spent his young adult life in Seattle attending The Art Institute of Seattle and Cornish College of the Arts, before becoming the frontman of hip hop group Maktub.
Other notable acts include the glamorous Natasha Leggero, who appears frequently on Chelsea Handler’s show Chelsea Lately. Her stand-up has taken the stage on other notable programs such as The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Comedy Central, and Last Call with Carson Daly.
Writer and Comedian Morgan Murphy is set to take the Bumbershoot stage for her third time. One of the original writers on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Murphy has also performed on shows such as Jimmy Kimmel Live.
National talent will join the likes of regional favorites from Seattle’s Laff Hole, Tacoma’s Comedy Club, and the Vancouver Comedy Fest. Seattle ex-pat Bryan Cook returns with his popular Competitive Erotic Fan Fiction. Rising stars such as Julie Klausner, Matt Besser, and SNL alums Tim Meadows and Horatio Sanz are expected to pack the house in a weekend full of hilarious acts.
To assist patrons in navigating the comedy crowds, Bumbershoot offers each attendee a comedy pass available for pick up at the Festival, guaranteeing admission into the patron’s chosen performance.
For comedy die-hards, Platinum passes are on sale and guarantee admission to all comedy performances in all three venues.
